FAQ

What genres do you edit?

As long as it’s fiction, I am open to any genre whether it be adult, young adult, or middle grade. Though, my true speciality lies with young adult high fantasy and adult dark, paranormal romance. I don’t have any particular trigger warnings, but if you’re worried how a certain sensitive topic will be received, please let me know up front before we start the editing process.

If you need help polishing/publishing a children’s picture book, please let me redirect you to the lovely Arielle Haughee, whose PB Grumbler has a Kirkus starred review and is the winner of the Royal Palm Literary Award.

How does the editorial process work?

Editors are not all the same. We focus on different things, specialize in certain areas, and tweak for specific issues. Here’s a brief overview of some varieties in editing.

What is the turnaround time?

Once we decide to work together, we will create a schedule tailored to the level of editing service you have selected. This will vary from project to project.

What if I don’t agree with your edits?

Will this guarantee me publication with 4HP?

No. But having a polished manuscript, will definitely increase your chances for consideration through 4HP or anyone you’re seeking to have your work published through. Once my completed edits are in your hands, I have no control on how you choose to utilize them. Also, 4HP only considers manuscripts that are first in a series. So, if you’re writing a standalone, then you will find a better fit with a different publisher.

If you have a polished manuscript (that’s part of a series) and want to submit to 4HP, please follow the submission guidelines here. Good luck!
